OLYMPUS i-SPEED 3 | TEST FOOTAGE - KNUCKLES

A short reel of some of the test footage to be used for the music video 'Blake - What I like (Knuckles Insomniac Remix)'. Shot using the Olympus i-SPEED 3 at 400 fps and the SIGMA 24mm f.1.8. I found this lens the most practical especially under low light conditions. All the footage is ungraded and straight from the camera.

To watch in HD please visit - http://www.vimeo.com/8353631

The track used for the reel is 'Equinox' by Knuckles.

OLYMPUS i-SPEED 3 TRAINING

Olympus

Today I met up with Olympus for a two hour training session with the i-SPEED 3. Great Fun, I look forward to testing it out over the next few days. We tested out a range of lenses, but the most practical under low light was the SIGMA 24mm f.1.8.

PAK SHEUNG CHUEN

PAK SHEUNG CHUEN

Pak Sheung Chuen performs and documents humorously poetic ideas that elaborate on complex issues within the realm of politics, history, religion and globalisation. A breath of fresh air and by far my favourite exhibition at the Biennale. Brilliant!

Waiting for Everyone to Fall Asleep
|

Waiting for Everyone to Fall Asleep

For this he stood infront of a 13-storey building in Sham Shui Po and waited for all the residents to fall asleep. The photographs were taken at 22:38 / 01:40 / 02:36 / 04:09 / 05:04. "A person in the building remained awake throughout the night, we ended up wasting the night together while being on opposite sides of the street"

Breathing in a House |

Breathing in a house

For this Pak rentedan apartment in Busan (measuring 6.7m x 2.7m x 2.2m). Although he lived his daily life as usual there, he collected all his breath in transparent plastic bags until they filled up the entire apartment. The process took ten days to complete.

Waiting for a Friend (Without an Appointment)

Waiting for a Friend (without an appointment)

For this photograph, without an appointment, he randomly selected a place and waited for a friend there. This time Jacky, a university classmate whom I had not seen for two years, appeared at the chosen location at 16:38. "He asked me, "How did you know I'd be here?" I told him, "I really don't know... but I've been waiting for you here for a long time!"

Paul Bryan - ScalaMata Exhibition - Artificial - Parallel Worlds

Parallel dimensions are in physics hypothetical universes separated from our but coexisting with it, where past, present and future become faded notions that open to an unlimited potential and to an accumulation of endless and simultaneous possibilities. Parallel Dimensions dwell on simultaneity. They are simultaneity itself -perceivable and related, subjected but undeniable.

In this, last Parallel Worlds’ appointment, the selection of the participating artists has been done based on these criteria – to gather different ways and means of observation to enlarge the spectrum of possibilities.

There is not only one theme. The theme breaks up in thousand fragments and thousand images, that refer to parallel universes. They are separated among themselves. None the less, each of them is connected to its own artistic orbit. It cohabits with the dimension of the real transposing at the same time - the vision of reality itself.

This exhibition intends to create a temporary disorientation. The spectator is challenged to reconnect the various thematic trains of thought of the heterogeneous artistic proposals, that seem apparently unconnected, in the ways of the endless dimension of the multi universal artistic world.

STOMP |

Today I went to see something that I've wanted to see for such a long time - Stomp, at the Ambassadors Theatre. My favourite performance came from the group simply using Zippo lighters to create the composition. A more delicate track than the rest but at the same time producing an incredible ambient show - Have a look at this using bendy pipes:

Waiting Room - Surface Gallery Exhibition

WAITING ROOM | SURFACE GALLERY EXHIBITION

Jonathon Ryall | Becca Whittaker | Maria Cassidy | Tom Chase | Laura Macleod

Private View Wednesday 18th November 6-8 pm

29/10/09

This November, Surface Gallery presents the work of five young and talented, final year, fine art students of Loughborough University. The exhibition ‘Waiting Room’ brings together a set of creative artists who share the mutual aim of experimenting with interactive and participatory practices in art.

Waiting Room promises to stimulate the viewer with its array of artistic practice including sculpture and installation; designed to evoke viewer interaction in a multitude of ways. Viewers will be encouraged to interact with some of the works; yet other times, may find themselves being dictated by the work itself. Whatever the scenario, you will be taken through a world of media as the artists attempt to tap into your consciousness.

The Private View will be held on Wednesday 18th November, between 6-8pm. This is a great chance to view the works as well as an opportunity to meet the participating artists, and to experience a taste of up and coming art prior to summer 2010 Graduate Shows.

THROUGH THE WINDOW
Small set of photos taken through the train doors on the tube as commutors stare into space waiting to exit. I'd stand in the set position where the train doors would stop and wait for the commutors to roll into the frame. It looks better in moving image as you get to see the characters enter the shot from left to right as if on a dolly and track.

Capturing natural expressions - When people look into the lens, without having a chance to realise that it's a camera they are looking at you get a real sense of the characters current emotion.

UNDERCITY
A short film exploring New Yorks Subway system without permissions. Shot on a Canon 5d mkii/ Canon 24 f/1.4 (version 1) with a zacuto rapid fire. The silhouette of the main character climbing the stairs (01:40) is incredible and the chiaroscuro created from the unnatural light is beautiful.

His cheeky smile at the end sums up for me the excitement and the thrill of doing things without concent. It's an amazing film.
