Artificial is a short film that conveys the unnatural atmospheric conditions that are generated on the London Underground throughout a standard working day. It documents a build up of heat produced from lighting, trains and people and captures how the system tries to cool itself down through the movement of trains, air conditioning and ventilation shafts. Using a secretive style of photography, I’ve tried to capture natural life within this fluctuation of artificial energy. With OVER 3000 entries from over 30 countries Artificial made the final 20 films selected for the category Live Action and achieved semi final status.
