Interviews Paul - Blind Atmosphere Paul is sixty seven year old gentleman who lost his eye sight as youngster. He suffers from tunnel vision which is a type of blindness similar to looking through the eye of a needle. He is a lifelong Arsenal fan who owned a season ticket before turning blind. For years he missed out on going to the live games, but in 1993 Arsenal F.C introduced an audio decription for the visually impared. We discuss what is was like being able to come to a match again, his thoughts on the audio description and how he interacts with the atmosphere around him. 00:07:22 ![]() |

Janet - Lifestyle |
|||
"On a good day I can hear walls" Janet is a fascinating lady who went to normal school as a child, but was short sighted. At the age of twelve she was one of six children who wre used to test contact lenses for the first time at Moorfields Eye Hospital. In her early twenties the Hospital ignored her claims that the lenses were starting to hurt. Soon after she came to realise she had glaucoma, a condition normally associated with elderly people. She lost sight in one eye and was loosing sight in the other. She went on to get married and have a baby, but was officially registerd blind by the time her child reached her first birthday. In this interview I learnt how her lifestyle had to change and how she coped with the transition. We discuss how technolgy helped her through every day situations, how she interacts with people, her confidence and putting trust in a guide dog, along with her thoughts on sound and perception. 00:53:55 |
